The Chempound Round Robin: Generation 10, Part 2

Heya! I know, "Back again? So soon?" I am a woman of my rules, and my rules say preferably two weeks, so here I am.

Last time:
  • Piper met Venus
  • Venus moved in
  • He and Piper married
  • They had a son, named Formaldehyde. Or Hyde for short.

In this generation, I can only control my heiress so Venus and Formaldehyde (at least when he's a child) are on their own.

So far, Venus hasn't done a bad job of keeping himself alive. Except when he continually tries to eat rotten food and the mod I have doesn't allow for that, so he gets stuck in a loop. Will he ever learn?

Piper hired a nanny straightaway so that she could return to work.

Even though Venus doesn't work, he's not exactly reliable when it comes to a baby. Especially since I can't tell him what to do. It's bad when the nanny is better.
Aside from that, he didn't wake up until 11 in the morning and by that time the nanny had already fed and changed Hyde.

But I assume he has an ok cooking skill since he hasn't burned down the kitchen yet.

I'm surprised at all the autonomous love in this house, since they literally have no chemistry. There are no bolts at all.

Not that any lack of affection would be noticed. Say what you want about Piper, she is a great mother.
Piper: Of course I am! Just because my siblings didn't make it to adulthood doesn't mean it was my fault.

Venus pretty much just lazes about the house. Deadbeat dad to the nth power.

Piper earned enough money for me to redecorate the living room. It is no longer a hodge podge of mis-matching items.

Re-did the kitchen as well :]

I'm not big on kitchens. I'm sure I can add some stuff at some point.

Piper: I don't know how much longer I can stand Venus.
If you can find someone that you have two bolts with aside from your greatest uncle, I will be more than happy to indulge an elaborate affair.

Before I knew it, Hyde was growing up

My game: spawning bald toddlers since 2008.

Piper has to immediately start teaching Hyde things such as potty-training, walking, talking.
Piper: This is boring. There are so many things I could be doing instead of this. Can't my useless husband be doing this?
He could...but I can't tell him to do it, and neither can you, so looks like it's up to you.

It's nearly 3 in the morning, let that child sleep!
Piper: The sooner I can get this done the better.
You have work in the morning.
Piper: Night kid!

Despite his self-centered mother, and a mentally absent father, Hyde seems okay.

This is how Venus spends all of his time.

The weather man's dulcet tones can be found throughout the house. The TV is left on almost 24/7.

Well crap. Good thing there's a burgular alarm..?

Fat lot of good it does when your cop is made of fail.

Thank God you won't get that promotion. You don't deserve it!

Someting about high chairs draws out sim parents. The first time Venus touched his son at all was to pull him out of the high chair.

The mail man actually helped me figure out who's been stealing the newspapers. Russet Ferula.

What is it with you and teaching this kid late at night?
Piper: I get off work late.
I don't see how that concerns your child. Why don't you go to sleep when you get home and wake up earlier?

The pep talk worked, but she was up at 5 the next morning and teaching him again. Set your goals a little higher. Anyone could walk that distance.
Piper: Did you want to teach him?
Nope, that's your kid.

That night, he's grown up, and has learned everything. Even a nursery rhyme.

Hyde: Mom, can you at least put on some pants? Cuisine++
Piper: Afraid not. I quite like the feeling of walking around trouser-less.

Hyde: I'm going to be mentally scarred by the time I reach adulthood.
Sounds about right.

Did I mention that Formaldehyde is a dragon?

I've seen Venus wandering around the house "worrying." I know I made him a knowledge sim, so I'm sure he rolled the want to get Hyde into private school. Knowledge sims.

Piper rocks it.

And Formaldehyde makes it to school on Monday without incident.

All of the beds in the house are empty and he sleeps on the couch. Maybe he shouldn't have been a knowledge sim.

Begin the homework pile.

Piper: Crap. Please let this be gas.
Hey, get the telephone. It's definitely not gas.

His life as an uncontrollable is messing with his coordination. And also his ability to think.
The kitchen is right through that arch over there.

Not dumb, just slow.

Hyde: Hey Dad, you knocked up mom! Relationship++
Venus: I know. It's not a good thing son.

Great. Just great. Stay away from Piper, her second pregnancy is already rough enough without you getting her sick Venus!

Wonder mom to the rescue.

And because I'm not all there, I decided that adding a dog to the fray of a mini-ISBI was a great idea.

If I didn't know any better, I'd say they had something going, but since Piper works all day, the only thing I have to do is watch Venus and I do know better.

Welcome to the family Waggles!

Venus is quite taken with him

But Piper is interested in one thing: making money with him.
She sets in to teach him as many tricks as she can.
At least until her baby is born, then it's back to the salt mines for her.

Welp, hopefully soon again :3

I see a problem with Venus spending all of his time online in the form of his starving in order to achieve this ;p

Hi. :) You sent me a message but I couldn't reply because you have your privacy sent on. Sorry, I kinda forgot about this and a while ago I found out the person who started this round robin deleted their lj. But yes, I'm still up to take over the 11th generation. :3

Oh, hi! I had the round robin's main post somewhere in my bookmarks and I tried to check it a week or two ago, but it turned up a 404 page and said the journal was deleted. Cue the confusion.

Yep, you can find the post here (http://prosthetic-sims.livejournal.com/3842.html) now.

Sorry about that. I left a post on the original journal for a month talking about the change, but I suppose not everyone saw it...since it wasn't on the friend's page the whole time, obviously :]

Great start to your generation! Piper is amusing and Venus... is an idiot, as the name of the challenge implies. You can't even make him get a job? How horrid! Yes it's bad when the nanny is better at childcare than the parent.

So you let the kids grow up into whatever they grow up into? How rare! (I do it most of the time too, out of a combo of laziness + feeling like that's what my Sim CHOSE so that's what they want to look like)

Hehe, I always have a "huh?" moment when the weather man starts talking, because normally I just have a Sim check the forecast in the newspaper. I don't notice it when they change channels to the weather station and then leave the TV on.

[identity profile] verocchio.livejournal.com 2011-04-30 05:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks! Apparently, when you make a sim into a socialite, techie, or any of those social groups from AL, they don't get a job until they move into an apartment...which is rather useless if you don't play apartments!

It bothers me deeply that I'm letting Formaldehyde run around in a dragon outfit, but he's out of my reach, and that's what he grew into :p

50% of the time, the weatherman is wrong about the forecast. I don't put much stock into what he has to say. (Especially when it's summer and he claims there is going to be snow.)

[identity profile] lumy12.livejournal.com 2011-04-30 08:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Ohhhh so you can't even make over the idiots! Aww. But the dragon outfit is so adorable! I don't know if I'd want to make a Sim of mine over if he aged up into that, although I don't choose those costume-y ones myself.

Yeah the weatherman's pretty useless, but weather's nice for raising science hobby interest, at least.

I think the dragon outfit would be better if he were wearing the headpiece ;p
